I was evaluating the Republican nominees and I told my mother my feelings on each candidate; I said, I felt...
Romney was running because he truly believes he looks presidential, and he feels presidential. Granted, he does seem like a pretty sensible guy, sounds the part, and stays relatively calm under pressure (well most times) and could possibly give Obama a run for his money just based on those few mundane yet convincing characteristics alone (unfortunately, too many Americans are an “easy sell”).
Bachman is running because she wants to be the first female president of the US and at a point really thought she could convince the American public that she had the tools necessary to break the ceiling; however, her homosexual transitional clinics as a family business is a tough sell amongst the American people – the Gay community is way too powerful to allow that to happen - additionally, she would have had to be nearly flawless and not just a great candidate but a superb one – as a woman they were going to make her work harder and prove it more. Bachman already has one too many strikes against her.
Cain can just forget it. It was pretty obvious even before the long list of sexual improprieties were exposed, that he is running because he loves to hear himself speak. I can just picture this guy in the mirror everyday looking at and talking to himself; smirking and laughing thinking how good he looks, how much every woman wants him, and how he is going to make us all believe that he actually has what it takes – your typical sociopath. He is so clearly a narcissist and not to mention a “smart-ass” I am not sure how anyone can sit in a room for an hour and listen to him speak – not with a straight face at least. Cain can make for good entertainment – to a very select audience- but will never make a good president. Not to mention, his smart-alecky comments cannot cover up the fact that he may be a shrewd businessman (or so he claims) but he knows little about “the facts” and really doesn’t care to know them, or communicate them; he just wants us to hear what he thinks and that is just so Rush Limbaugh and not presidential – at all.
Perry is running because someone deep in the heart of Texas told him he should; he tested the H2O and was struck with a bit of beginner’s luck, so he went for it. Someone do whatever they can to not elect this guy, I dealt with 8 long and painful years under George Bush and each time I see Perry on the screen I feel like Bush is reincarnating himself in Perry’s body or he is just some kind of fraternal clone. I am so sorry Perry if this is just not fair because you speak the same and have the same mannerisms but I am traumatized from the years 2000-2008 and need more time to recover – the nightmares of historic unemployment rates; WMDs that never were, and the 3 S’s (sarcasms, snickers and smirks) are still haunting me to this day.
And poor Paul, after all these years of trying to let the American people know who he is I still struggle to remember his name and that he is actually running. He spends so much of his own money just to tell the country and possibly the world how smart he is and we are not. He talks a lot and nobody ever listens or takes him seriously. I kind of feel sorry for this guy. The few times I actually tune him in when he is talking he seems to be making a bit of sense but I never seem to be able to stay focused enough to hear him out; is it just me? This guy has got to have something better to do with his money.
Then there is another candidate whose face I am picturing from seeing him briefly on a clip from Saturday Night Live but I cannot remember his name at the moment, I don’t think it’s worth researching because like Paul, I don’t think he stands a chance, not because he doesn’t have what it takes but he just doesn’t seem to be interesting enough. Sadly, he probably is the most presidential out of the bunch and maybe the smartest but he can’t seem to get past all the noise the other candidates are making!
NOW, Gingrich…I told my mom that he was the only candidate who I believed had the parties best interest at heart. That he is an “academic” and will probably be the most knowledgeable on the issues and the most thoughtful when it comes to creating solutions; THEN 10 seconds later– literally – good old Newt is on the television saying, low-income inner-city youth should be made to work at the schools mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms so they could learn a skill set. This will reduce their chances of becoming strippers and prostitutes (Charlie Brown expression on my face, glazed over look with eyes while staring into space…okay I am back).
Umm yes, he said it and did not stutter, look away, or second guess himself – he really believes that what he said was a great idea and very appropriate. NEWS FLASH – it’s not! At the first glance, this doesn't seem so bad right? Newt just wants to help the children come out of school with marketable skill sets…like cleaning toilets! Okay don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against cleaning for money, I actually have done this kind of work in addition to many odd jobs to get through school and tough times and I have an MBA. But!; I certainly did not need to go to school to learn how; and would hope that Newt and his crew can come up with some more valuable skills to teach ALL children when parents send them to school each day. Once again Gingrich is so out of touch and doesn't even know it, that it’s almost sad– I say almost, because it is hard to be sad when you are just disgusted. He clearly has no idea that low-income, inner-city children need access to the same quality and level of education, and training as every child in this country. That these children have the same capabilities and aspirations to become engineers, doctors, lawyers, tennis players, and golfers but just aren't offered to same opportunities to do so. He clearly doesn't believe that they deserve equal access. This is followed by his advice to the occupy Wall Street protesters – “go take and bath and get a job” or basically, if you don’t have bread, eat cake! Newt, they are out there because the jobs just aren't there.
Still can’t believe that people are actually giving these guys their money they really must be funded by people who have money to waste, hence why they refuse to raise the taxes on the top 1%.
Just a Thought.
